Masks on a plane

I'm travelling to London on a business trip soon - by plane. I haven't been on a plane or a train since lockdown started. I live in a small town in Scotland and I never wear a mask. What's the response if you try to get on a plane without a mask? Do they stop you boarding? And what if you don't wear a mask on the London underground? I'm keen to avoid wearing a mask for the whole trip.

Consider taking the night sleeper instead? Hassle free and a nicer way to travel.

Yeah didn't think of that option. Thanks!

I think you might struggle to board a plane. Once on you're allowed to remove it to eat/drink, so I'd imagine you could remove it for the duration without being challenged.

My London friends tell me that a decent minority don't wear them on the tube and that there appears to be little enforcement. Perhaps this has changed with the ratcheting up of fear in recent weeks.

Print yourself an exemption card or download it to your phone (see government website). You don't have to say why you have a "reasonable excuse". I never wear one, including travelling back from Barbados on BA. My reasonable excuse is that they're ineffective, anti-social nonsense.
