Exactly Mike there was no argument because the government propoganda machine aka the BBC, eliminated any chance of there ever being an argument. Just like Goebbels prevented any argument in defence of the Jews!!!!!
We are certainly up against it, especially as more and more outliers on the mainstream media platforms are being censored or taken down, see Talk Radio and You Tube for evidence. Indeed today there are a number of channels on You Tube who are saying that they feel the same will happen to them imminently. Now if the means of information to encourage debate is taken from the platforms most used and the MSM continue to resemble a flock of sheep then unless each individual takes action to encourage debate with those around them then indeed a loss is inevitable and the only win will be long after the damage is done. Going back to the Talk Radio issue, I have been listening to this station since it all began and like most things ,agreed with some, disagreed with other but always thought that it encouraged balanced debate with the main editorial point being that alternative views should be heard and policy makers must account for their actions. Therefore can see no reason for the censorship, there is always the OFF button! Additionally like other people questioning the narrative context was always provided, unlike the scare tactics or the reasons given by those in favour of the policies. A little example is a caller to said radio station this morning who obviously in favour of the measures in order to protect the NHS! stated that their daughter, a nurse, had been moved to a "Covid ward" to work. This to the average punter would seem as if hospitals have wards for Covid exclusively and while this may be the case in some facilities it is my belief that hospitals in general have wards where people who have tested positive are cared for irrespective of reason for admission and wards where people are placed who are not testing positive. This is certainly the case in the NHS facility I have recently retired from. So information with context is censored but that without is allowed to go unchallenged and streamed across the airwaves with impunity? If this continues then yes this match has been lost but the title is still up for grabs, so all stay positive and hope that others such as Mr. Cummins stay away from the censor!
Yes we have, for now, and we are part of that.
We were energised to do our bit here.
It was too late. Dumbing down has gone on for a while.
In order to work out why, we may have to face some unpleasant things.
Covid - and it could have been anything - proved that emotion, ignorance, mass 'basic' education and the media (possibly more) has been very productive and effective.
On that basis we may feel bad. Losing hurts. But losing, knowing why, helps.
There is so much that goes into the making up of a nation that perhaps we assumed that rational debate would work IF WE were familiar with it. Many were not and never will be because programming works.
Whatever comes next, people will believe what they are told for some reasons - one is E.Q., another is I.Q. and another is that homo sapien matrix they run on, underneath everything.
So - if that may be a problem, what would the solution be, if we imagined a response to that. And how long would it take, how much time, energy and funding would it need, how much will and effort?
How do you help people be able to deal with their emotions, resist bullying and think.
How do you - in effect - move evolution onwards within, rather than without?
I posit theories and ramblings perhaps.
It's a long game.
Unfortunately, due to the governments own Online Harms Bill, if passed it will criminalise any debate about government or WHO health policy. This will no doubt stretch into regular media and be policed by Ofcom. When health policy becomes the ONLY policy, as it is now, then it is impossible for anyone to openly criticise or debate govt policy legally online.
This is the same govt which puts forward Michael Gove on Talk Radio this morning which has been terminated by Youtube for breaching community guidelines - the same Gove who said on that very station he does not believe in censorship.
We have a centuries old traditions in this country which are being shot to pieces by pressure from who knows where.
As for Youtube and its mysterious "community guidelines", there is a massive difference between claiming rubbing shoe polish on your balls *cures* Covid-19 and having a rational debate between journalists and politicians or informed guests as to govt policy, or discussing how the govt is choosing to *interpret* its own data.
If they can't see that then we need to see it and stop using it and find, or set up, alternative ways to share information.
Is this site working?
I have submitted at least three responses but none feature in a "waiting approval" list?
Anybody?
