It's over. We're a minority

I genuinely thought opposition to all this nonsense was quite widespread. A lot of friends and family I considered to be intelligent people were against my views but I thought they were the outliers.

But recent polls and evidence points to the contrary. We might all have opinions about yougov polls but the results of the latest are startling. Overwhelming majority in favour from all parties and ages in favour of the new measures and a large number want them to go further.

Are we fighting a losing battle? It certainly seems that way. I don't know what it will take for people to wake up.

I have so much contempt for the media and governments right now for pushing this fear.

Will mass job losses and economic Armageddon make think people again. I really don't know.

What an embarrassment the conservatives are. I've posted before how depressed I am about this but I am really losing all hope now.

It will pass. Things only last as long as the causes remain, and the causes eventually run out of steam.

The thing is Mike, I saw a poll only yesterday that indicated 47% in favour of lockdown with 52% against. I know that still puts us in the majority but it should be 90% against lockdown. I actually detest the gullible sheeple more than this despicable government.

I'd give little credence to that: polls have always been less about gauging public opinion than about shaping it.

The polls are disappointing. I am sceptical about them because I think more scepticism comes out privately which is not disclosed to pollsters, just as Trump supporters were not forthcoming. We are probably in the minority still. That will change gradually if people suffer from lockdown, lose jobs, are evicted, see house prices drop (which is happening in a patchy way--some areas seem still be on the rise).
