Chocolate Malteser..
I do not wear one. I have a lanyard but rarely get asked. It's usually the mask wearing zombie zealots that point out ( I should think it's obvious I would know) that I am not wearing a mask.
I smile and move on.they have no right to question me.
Usually I am the only unmasked person but I hold my head up high and confidently but dont always feel it as it can be difficult.
I like you wish more people would take them off.
😀

There's no data at all showing "non-surgical masks" used by untrained people in a non-sterile environment does anything to reduce infection. Surgical masks are of questionable benefit even for surgery, with Cochrane reviews in 2002 and 2014 https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24532167/ both unable to say whether or not they help with wound healing.

Mask advocates generally resort to rhetorical proof based on localised and temporary correlation data. Jena in Germany was one favourite in mid 2020 because their rate of new positive test results conveniently dropped to zero immediately after their mask mandate; their reported infections have since gone much higher together with the rest of Germany. Of course, mask advocates strenuously object when sceptics use the same style of argument by pointing out that many countries introduced mask mandates right before a huge increase in positive tests! When the numbers support their favoured policy, there's no room for confounding factors, and when they don't, confounding factors are everything!

A good video on the ineffectiveness of masks:

Also a good book to check out “proof that face masks do more harm than good” by Vernon Coleman
