Visiting Lockdown Skeptics this morning, I was greeted with a message telling me that I had been logged out because my account had been subjected to a brute-force password attack.

Is this a common occurrence here, or have I inadvertently rattled someone's cage?

I got that, too.
Wasn't sure if it was as sinister as it sounded. Seems ok now, though.

Frankly, a mystery. I don't have full admin rights to the server so I can't look at the logs. I don't see from what I can see any evidence that either of your ID's were or are blocked. Clearly since you posted here now, you're back online.

The person with admin permissions is on holiday this week. I'll bring this to his attention, but frankly I'm not aware what can be done on this end...

It was odd, for sure.

I can't imagine a state actor doing something as pointless as a dictionary attack. No doubt the 77th have already pwned our server; if they want my details they'll just lift them out of the database.

Probably just a script kiddie watching for new accounts and trying his luck.

I work in IT, it's a common occurrence on Wordpress sites, it's probably just an automated script trying different combinations.
