On the face of it, looks like a really OTT response. They seem to be having a massive casedemic, and death have been low and stable since early June.

Thoughts?

Lockdown = 2 weeks in Wales; 4 weeks in Northern Ireland; 6 weeks in the Republic. The variability of the duration shows how far this is from evidence based / science-led medicine. Its just fools who think they ought to be doing something picking random periods and creating a shocking level of collateral damage on the way.

Ladbrokes should open a book on how long Ms Sturgeon selects, for she'll be the next.

Number of deaths curve has been flat for months. All variation just the usual statistical noise.

The number of cases published daily by the government health bureaucracies means little or nothing. Junk statistics. Just mass testing noise. The actual number of ICU admissions is very low. And has been for many months. The single biggest vector for infection is hospitals. Which have exceptionally high secondary infection rates for MRSA etc by international standards. Old peoples homes come next. Then home environment next. And like all other countries public space infection source is basically nil.

The number of deaths recorded as "COVID" by the government health bureaucracies in the first 3 months was 50% higher that the total excess deaths for the whole country in the same period. As counted by the official Central Statistics Office. All statistics out of various government department in Ireland like the Dept of Health etc regarding deaths and mortality figures, illnesses etc are so notoriously inaccurate and late that the Central Statistics Office (who have to report to EuroStat) uses a commercial website, rip.ie, which publishes deaths notices and funeral notices placed by families and added by undertakers, as the only accurate and timely source of mortality statistics for the country.

Ireland, like Italy and Spain, can be used as the poster children for why all COVID related official statistics from the government of these countries are laughably wrong and all the related government overreactions are not only based on invalid data but done for purely shorten political reasons by utterly incompetent governments.

The current Irish Prime Minister is a failed secondary-school history teacher who has not had a real job outside politics since his 20's. The current Heath Minister is a guy who worked as a management consultant for a few years before becoming a full time politician. So never had a real job either. The people who made the decision to shutdown the country is a committee mostly made up of bureaucrats who run a totally shambolic health system that cannot even build a simple hospital for less that 3.5 billion euro (normal price less than 700 million euro) and which kills patients on a pretty regular basis through gross negligence.

The chief medical officer is a life long hospital management bureaucrat who based on his public appearances before the parliamentary committee I would not trust to treat an in-growing toenail successfully. Think of the dodgiest shiftiest used car salesman and thats pretty much the impression he gives.

Not one person in any of the committees / senior position in organisations making decisions has any substantive background in the research ./ mathematics of airborne respiratory infectious epidemic diseases. None. Almost all are career management / bureaucrat types.

The contrast with an equivalent country like Norway is pretty startling. At all levels. In professional competence, relevant expertise, planning, and execution. I have family in Ireland (as well as France and Italy) and know Norway very well.

This post has a very thorough and detailed summary of all the relevant information for Ireland. A story that is repeated all over Europe.

https://healthfreedomireland.com/overall-mortality-for-2020-less-than-2018/

The actual novel infection with SARs CoV 2 was a very low risk, at least nothing out of the ordinary, for the whole population. Both general and high risk. But the hysterical response by governments (which will have zero impact on the final morality rate for the novel infection) will have killed very large numbers of people.

A totally damning story.
